Miami Padel Club ready for The City’s Cup in New York

The season has come down to this. From October 16 to 19, New York will host The City’s Cup, the final tournament of the Pro Padel League, and the moment when the champion of the year will be crowned. It is a direct elimination format, four days of high-intensity matches where every point can decide a team’s fate.

For Miami Padel Club, the expectations are clear. On the men’s side, Agustín Tapia and Federico Chingotto arrive as one of the most consistent pairs of the season, a duo whose chemistry and relentless competitiveness have made them the backbone of the team. Their opening challenge will likely come against Arkansas Matrix, with Íñigo Jofre joined either by Álex Arroyo or Gonzalo Rubio. Earlier this year in San Sebastián, Miami defeated Arkansas in straight sets, 6–2 and 7–5, a result that underlined the strength of the Tapia-Chingotto partnership.

The numbers also speak for themselves. Miami’s men have suffered only two defeats all season, both in San Sebastián, first against Las Vegas Smash and later in the third-place playoff against New York. Since then, the team has rebuilt confidence and is widely seen as one of the strongest contenders for the title. Many observers already point to a possible semifinal against the Flowrida Goats as a clash worthy of being called a final before the final.

The women’s team faces a more demanding path. Drawn against Flowrida in the opening round, Miami will meet the world’s top pair, Delfi Brea and Gemma Triay, who have set the standard throughout the season. Miami’s women have struggled to establish rhythm, with just one match won against Toronto Polar Bears, another team that endured difficulties this year. Still, in a knockout format, surprises remain possible, and New York provides the biggest stage of all to deliver one.

The City’s Cup is more than a tournament. It is the defining event of the year, the one moment when form, history, and reputation give way to the pressure of the present. Miami arrives with two very different realities: the men chasing a title that feels within reach, and the women looking to turn adversity into opportunity. Together, they will carry the club’s colors onto the courts of New York, determined to leave their mark on the league’s most important week.
